Show Notes for Episode 70 - The Train of the Future

In this epsiode of Matt and Nate discover one of the shortest lived, but no less important attractions in the history of Disneyland.  If the Disneyland Railroad represents the past of rail travel, then Tomorrowland should provide the future of rail travel; and so in 1957 Disneyland debuted The Viewliner, the fastest miniature train in the world. We discuss how this attraction served as the basis for the Monorail.

Lost in the story of the Viewlner is that it was based on an actually mode of transportation, the General Motore Aerotrain which was built more like an automobile on a rail than a locomotive.  The cars were built with a unibody design.

The attraction ultimately gave way to the great 1959 expansion where the Monorail and the Submarine Voyage would be built, both figuratively and literally.

Show Notes for Episode 69 - Part of the Action: Disney MGM Studios 89

In this weeks episode of we revisit of the Studios for the second installment of thr Studios 89 Series by looking a couple of original attractions that were unique to the Stuios; Superstar Television an The Monster Sound Show. And, to add to the conversation Matt Hochberg of StudiosCentral.com lends us a hand with the details.  One thing that stands out about the early Disney MGM Studios attractions were that you, the guest, were put into the action; and no attractions did this better than Superstar Television, where you got to go on the other side of the camera to play a role on a TV show, and The Monster Sound Show, where you were tasked with creating the sound alongside a suspense film. Both have been replaced over the years, but their legacy as part of the early days of the Studios has not been forgotten.
